Without wanting to dwell on the past too much, it’s worth noting what a year 2020 was, and dropping a note of congratulations for making it through one of the toughest years we’ve ever had to face. We’d also like to thank you for your continued support; it has shown us just how strong our connection to our community is!
With the past in the past, let’s look forward! What will we see happening this year? Will we get a vaccine? Will we be able to gather in numbers and share good times?
As we’re currently in the midst of a vicious second wave of COVID infections, it’s hard to be positive just now. The good news is that we know how to handle it now; it’s up to all of us to stay safe, wash our hands, wear our masks and sanitize when in public. We’ve all just experienced a different Christmas to those of years gone by, but we’re getting used to change, aren’t we?
Something we’re hoping for is the return of the Olympics, while it’s not yet clear if spectators will be allowed into the stadiums, we do expect the games to go ahead this year. As we’ve seen from plenty of other sporting codes, it is possible to operate large sporting events within the guidelines of COVID precautions.
If all goes well, we’ll be firmly on the sofa in front of the telly come July 2021, grabbing every second of the games that we can. It’s going to be an exciting edition of the games with baseball, skateboarding, sport climbing, madison cycling, surfing, Karate, freestyle BMX and 3×3 basketball making their debut or returning after an absence from the program.
Just like these Olympic athletes, it’s time to make your goals; face them head on and relish the challenge! We have the power to make 2021, the one that we won; we’ll be here along the way to put you right and share the journey.
