Put in the simplest words possible, acupuncture involves inserting super thin metallic needles into strategic points in the skin to relieve pain and stimulate healing. Now, what a lot of people don’t realize, is just how thin these needles actually are! We found this awesome image that puts it into perspective.

So what conditions can be treated using acupuncture? Well it is mainly used in western medicine to relieve discomfort caused by a number of different conditions, including:

  • Lower back pain
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Headaches (tension headaches and migraines)
  • Tennis elbow
  • Neck pain
  • Labor pain
  • Menstrual cramps and more

It can also help strengthen the immune system by increasing blood flow and antibody levels. It stimulates natural painkillers in the body called endorphins that are even stronger than morphine. It even affects neurotransmitters that can help the body cope with stress, depression, and mood disorders.

If this sounds like something you need then don’t hesitate to make an appointment!
